I've been creating an ongoing series of acrylic paintings inspired by photographs of the mesmerizing scenes I encountered during my runs in rural Virginia. Each painting originates from a meditative moment along the roadside when I connect with nature and its indifferent beauty. I pause to catch my breath and take in the natural compositions around me. Both painting and running have been essential for my physical and mental well-being in recent years, representing consistency and growth in my self-care. As I've focused more on running, my life, outlook and artwork has also evolved. Running has become a source of inspiration, helping me stay grounded and connected to nature. These moments are humble reminders that I'm part of a larger system on this planet and beyond. In the scenes of forest growth, I find chaos and harmony, where undergrowth and leaves work together and around each other to reach the light, creating a complex yet harmonious structure. In these moments, I find myself contemplating reality, in a runners high, but also, how I would capture this scene, this moment, in a painting. These works are what’s become of those contemplations while exploring new subject matter and techniques to expand my experience as an artist.
